So I got a wild hair today and started transferring my BANS sites over to my Hostgator account. It is going so smoothly I am surprised. I might have to write my exact steps so the next person who attempts it also has a smooth transition from one host to the next.
If you are needing a host I would suggest Hostgator as they have been the fastest and best that I have had in my time of online adventures.

Mark, over at thenichestorebuilder.com is putting together a list of the Top100 blogs about BANS. I hope I make it on the list. I have given some good stuff in this blog but no one ever seems to remember me. Oh well, we’ll see what happens.

Well it looks like eBay has changed their category numbers for some cats recently. A lot of BANS users are going to be up in arms demanding a new Category Export from Adam & Kelvin. The only way to guarantee not being affected (or is it effected) is to manually set your stores up with search queries. You can see what cat’s changed here:

We are working on a new feature for the ezBANS mod. This feature will add a bar below the buttons on the admin panel that show your total ePN earnings and also the earnings for the particular store you are viewing.
Here is a screenshot:

Integrating the Full Stats is what we are working on at the moment. Will update the post when it is done.

If you’re like me, I am logging in to ePN to check my stats on individual sites constantly. I found a very easy way to make loggin in a one-click deal.
All you have to do is up in the address bar add:
?user_name=[login]&user_password=[password]
to the link (replace [login] and [password] with your epn username and epn password)
for a link to the dashboard this link would be:
https://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com/PublisherHome?user_name=myemail@domain.com&user_password=pAs67SwOrD
When you get it added in the address bar highlight it all and copy it or hit CTRL+D to bookmark it.
You can add that to any ePN page and it will be a one click login.

Since your bookmarks are categorized into different TAGS, you will get very targeted traffic from people searching within a particular TAG. They will click on your bookmark link and visit your site.
|
|
|
Most of these Social Bookmarking sites have high PR, ranging from 5PR to even 8PR! Therefore, search engine spiders visit these sites so often that your links will be crawled almost immediately!
|
|
|
Getting quality one-way incoming links is the main factor to higher search engine ranking. With Social Bookmarking, you can get unlimited ‘keyword’ links to your site. Having more keyword links that are relevant to your site will result in higher ranking.

I don’t know how many people out there narrow down their results with the search query but you should. You need to make your visitors enjoy your site and offer some type of value so they come to your site instead of straight to ebay. In order to do that, you need to give them what they want, what they are searching for.
You can do this by utilizing the Search Query box in BANS.
We can use a Coach site for an example. Let’s say you have all things Coach listed on your site. So you have different main Store pages of Purses, Accessories, Belts, etc.
You can set the belts search query to: coach belt and it will do fine but what if under the accessories you want coach checkbook covers, you set it to coach checkbook cover but you notice not all people list it as checkbook (one word) they sometimes list it as check book (two words). How can you do that?
Easy, you set up the search query to an OR statement, so it will search for coach checkbook OR check books. You can use the OR operand by using parentheses ( ) so if you set the search query to coach (checkbook, check book) it will pull listings with coach checkbook and also coach check book
Hope you enjoyed this BANS tip!

Here is an easy way to add privacy policy and contact us pages to your BANS site. Only do this mod if you haven’t modified the FrontControl.php file. This will revert the file back to the original BANS file with the 2 pages added to the pages list.
Steps to install this mod:
- Unzip the file
- Place the privacy.php contact.php and captcha.php into the web root folder (ie: www,public_html, or wherever your index.php is located)
- Go to your cont folder and rename FrontControl.php to FrontControl.old (or whatever you want) and upload the included FrontControl.php in it’s place.
(Renaming the original FrontControl.php file is in case something goes wrong and you need to get your old one back. Is this FrontControl.php safe? Yes, all it is, is the original BANS v3.0 ePN file with the Privacy Policy and Contact Us pages added to the pages list.)
Again this is only if you haven’t touched the FrontControl file

So I finished modifying a template for BANS and I thought about how easy it is to steal templates from other BANS sites. **I want to go on record that I do not condone the theft of templates and themes from others**
This post is for educational purposes only!!
Ok how do you steal a BANS template?
- First find a BANS site that you like. (To test my theory I went to the Customer Stores page at the bans site HERE and went to the first on the list HERE)
- Right click and go to ‘view source‘
- search for: type=”text/css”

- take notice of what theme name they are using. As in this example you can see they are using the layout-1-right theme.
- Now go back to your browser that has the site pulled up and after the domain just put themes/ (HERE)
- voila! There they all are!
- Click to the themes folder, right click on the ‘styles.css‘ and ‘save target as.‘ (HERE)
- Click on the ‘images‘ folder and right click on all of the images and ‘save target as‘ (HERE)
That is most of it there. If the theme isnt very modified (like this one is) then that is about all there is to it. upload the styles.css and images folder to your site and check it out.
If the site is very modified like the header and footer has changed then you will need to copy all of the code from the view source in step above and extract all of the info to create your own header and footer and insert the bans code wherever you can.
How to hinder (it won’t completely stop) the people trying to steal your template that you spent a lot of time in making.
- Go to your cPanel
- Click on Index Manager
- Click on the www folder

- Click on the word themes
- Select No Indexes
Again, as someone who makes templates and buys templates, I do not condone this shady technique to steal your templates. That is why I wrote this, in hopes that it will help everyone lock down their stores.
